Styx State

The Styx State is a holding state. Provisioning Solutions provides this state as a safety net,  in case there are issues outside of Provisioning Solutions control where an error has occurred and the user is displayed as not Active in Active Directory (Example: Active Directory synchronization errors). When synchronization for Active Directory occurs and a user is not found, the user is transitioned into Styx State and will remain in Styx State for a configured period of time. This is called the Styx Period. The time the user is in the Styx State allows for further Active Directory Synchronization to occur to determine if the user actually is no longer active in Active Directory or if it was an error in Active Directory’s synchronization.

The time the user is in Styx State is known as the Tombstone Threshold. Once the Tombstone Threshold has passed. The user is automatically transferred to the Tombstoned State.

Users in the Styx State, if found in a subsequent synchronization will be moved back to Alive automatically by Provisioning Solutions. The user remains unchanged by PowerProv while in Styx State.
