The VPN to Server scenario tracks the calls made by external users, over the VPN tunnel. Tracking this data is useful, as in the majority of cases it represents scenarios that are recommended to be avoided, or scenarios where the call experience is expected to be of a lesser quality, compared to other external calls that are not made via VPN.
If a significant volume of calls is displayed in this scenario, then an investigation into the media routing and follow up by the networking team will be needed.
VPN to Server call scenario includes two call categories:
- Calls marked as VPN by Skype for Business.
- Calls not
marked as VPN by Skype for Business, but are calls that have been placed from or
to sites, that have been configured to be VPN Sites. VPN sites are sites that
are not marked with a VPN flag in a Skype for Business call record, but are
designated by the PowerSuite Skype Engineer as being a VPN to server call.
Typically, this is in cases where non-Microsoft VPN solutions are
used.
NOTE:
All traffic from or to a VPN site is considered as being VPN, including calls which are placed over the wireless network from that site.
The VPN to server call scenario by default, is not included in the All Poor Calls KPI computation. Your organization’s Skype Engineer can include the VPN to server call scenario in this KPI, by changing the configuration. Once the configuration has been changed to include the VPN to Server call scenario, the VPN to server call scenario indentation in the display will change if the Skype Engineer changes the configuration of the VPN to Server calls. This is shown in the screenshots below:
