The Provisioning Solutions Site concept is used to logically group and associate Phone Number Ranges (with Phone Numbers and Phone Number Allocations) with users and any other Endpoints which can have a Phone Number.
To identify the user’s Site, by default, "l" (lower-case L), the "location" AD attribute, is used. This attribute may be changed to any simple value-based single-value attribute in Active Directory and is applied globally.
The user’s Site must match an entry in the Range-to-Site mapping to allow Provisioning Solutions to automatically Assign Phone Numbers. A Phone Number Range can be associated with none, one or many Sites, and the same Site can be associated with one or more Phone Number Ranges.
Example:
Site A is a large Site with 20,000 users and has multiple ranges associated with this site. Site B is a small site with 50 users. Site B may be provisioned with a range from Site A owing to the Site’s size.
