A Phone Number can have multiple allocations.
For example:
o There may be users with different extensions associated with the main line office number.
o Branching scenarios where calls are routed to multiple endpoints. For example, Skype On-Prem lines can be routed to Skype and a PBX phone.
PNMS can support different functionality of the main line number using the above scenarios.
For Example:
o A new office is set up and a main line number is required. Teams Direct Routing is deployed for this purpose.
o You can find an available number for this location for e.g.: +1 (425) 865-0700.The Phone number with extension 7000 is assigned to the lobby.
PNMS status:
Phone number +1 (425)
865-0700 status is used with one allocation:
- Assignment for lobby with extension 7000
Later the same Phone number is assigned to employees adding extension to the main line number.
o The phone number +1 (425) 865-0700 is looked up and then 3 assignments are created with different extensions.
o PNMS status: Phone number +1 (425) 865-0700 status is used with 4 allocations:
1. Assignment for lobby with extension 7000
2. Assignment for Adele with extension 7010
3. Assignment for Debra with extension 7011
4. Assignment for Patti with extension 7012
When an employee, in this case Adele leaves the company.
o Lookup the assignment for Adele (phone number) and then revoke the assignment to remove the corresponding phone number/extension in Teams.
o The number transitions from Assignment to Tombstone for the specified period (e.g., 30 days). This also indicates that the combination of phone number was recently used.
PNMS Status: Phone number +1 (425) 865-0700 status is used with 4 allocations:
1. Assignment for lobby with extension 7000
2. Tombstone for Adele with extension 7010
3. Assignment for Debra with extension 7011
4. Assignment for Patti with extension 7012
Reviewing phone number status
o After the transition period and expiration, the tombstone allocated number will be removed.
