Inherited Column Description

The inherited column indicates from where the Firmware was assigned to a device (in the currently selected scope). The inherited column may have one of the following entry types:

-    The column’s row may be Empty

Empty row indicates that the Firmware assignment has been specifically created for the device model, in the current scope, and has not been inherited.

-    [all]

[all] indicates that the Firmware assignment for the model is inherited from an assignment created for all of the device models of a specific vendor (Example. all Yealink device models).  [all] refers to top row entry [All] for the vendor in the grid.

-     Geography location name

The geography location name indicates that the assignment is inherited from an assignment made at this level of the geographical hierarchy.

NOTE:

Global indicates that the assignment has been made at the Global (non-geography site specific) scope.

Example:

In the example screenshot below it can be seen that version 5.5.159317 is assigned as Testing to all Poly devices that have [all] in the inherited column. The [all] relates to the devices that are in the United States, and have been assigned a Global Firmware version assignment of 5.5.159317 to all devices globally.

It can be seen, that Firmware version 5.4.5.9188 for production has been assigned as Production stage to two models in the United Sates. This assignment was inherited from the North America assignment that was made for those models.

Three of the models in the United States are being tested for Firmware version 5.5.1.15937. These versions were assigned to specific models in a time period after the global version had been assigned. Therefore, as they are the latest assignments they have overwritten the previous all assignment for that model.
