The Global language for Cordant Inc. is set to English. The language for Cordant Inc., for the Geography scope of Switzerland is to set for German. The Cordant Inc. Geneva site requires the language to be set to French. The example below demonstrates how a Feature Configuration is applied to a site, setting the language for the site.
As can be seen from the illustration above, the global language for Cordant Inc. is English. The language for Switzerland has been set as German, which overwrites the global language of English. The Geneva office of Cordant Inc. was set up on day 1. Once set up, the site’s devices connect to the PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service, and request the most recent configuration file, which includes up to date configuration settings including language, for each device. The PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service returns the most recent configuration file that contains the language setting of German for Switzerland. The devices in the Geneva office now have the language set to German. Once the end users used the devices, many users requested that the language for the devices in the Geneva office be set to French.
On day 2, the Skype Engineer, sets the language for Geneva to be French following the user’s requests, by updating the Feature Configuration for the site. The Feature Configuration setting changes are evaluated by the Device Management Solution, and new configuration files are generated to reflect the changes. The Device Management Solution transmits the new configuration file that contains the latest configuration settings to the PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service, in preparation for the next time the devices contact the PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service requesting an updated Configuration file.
The devices are configured to contact the PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service running in the PowerSuite Agent once a day, this occurs automatically and the devices contact the Service, irrespective if Feature Configuration changes have occurred or not. On day 3, it can be seen that the devices in the Geneva Office contact the PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service requesting the most recent configuration file. Once the request has been received, the PowerSuite Agent Provisioning Service sends back to the devices the most recent configuration file, with the most up to date settings to the Geneva devices. The configuration file that is sent to the devices in Geneva contains the setting for the language to be French, which the Skype Engineer has applied as a Feature Configuration to Geneva the previous day. Once the devices receive the configuration file, the settings on the devices in Geneva will be changed to use French as the device language.
