The types of alerts sent by PowerSuite are:
- Major Incident Alert
o Alerts of a reduction in the calculated service availability low alert threshold. A Major Incident Alert is sent when the service availability drops below the configured service availability low alert threshold, the recommended default is 80%.
- Major Incident Resolved Alert
o This alert is sent when the service availability returns to equal or greater than the service availability clear alert threshold. The recommended default clear alert threshold is 90%.
- Failure Alert
o This alerts of a monitoring scenario that was previously succeeding that has now failed. The Failure Alert email includes diagnostic information providing further insights into the type of failure and root cause analysis. Using the information contained within a failure alert, in addition to the knowledge of the scenario and components involved with that scenario, it is expected that the receiver of the alert is able to determine information associated with the root cause, and the impacted components. With this information the end user scenario impacted is known immediately with the alert, without the need for actual end users to find and report the issue. In addition precise information is available without the need to ask users to capture and provide the information. This information provided by PowerSuite, in addition to the combination of tools available with Skype for Business, will aid in quicker diagnosis of the cause and enable faster resolution of the issue. If a failure occurs which impacts multiple scenarios, then multiple failure emails will be sent by PowerSuite. One alert email will be sent for each monitoring scenario that is failing until the failure is resolved. Although, it could be considered duplication of information, the matrix of information can provide valuable insights into the root cause of the issue.
- Success Alert
o This alerts of a monitoring scenario that was previously failing and is now succeeding. It is sent as soon as a scenario that was once failing is now succeeding. This important alert ensures that the expected root cause and resolution have addressed the issue. If an organization has multiple scenarios, then each failure or success alert is considered independent.
- Quarantine Alert
o This alert is the same as the Success and Failure Alerts for scenarios which are in quarantine state. It is likely that different email addresses are needed for quarantine alerts than the Success and Failure Alert, as quarantined scenarios are currently being tested and validated.
NOTE:
When a scenario is in quarantine, it is in a validation state. The scenario is only moved out of quarantine when it can be ensured that false failures will not occur (the scenario is stable). While in quarantine the failures will not be displayed in the dashboards, and therefore will not affect your Service Availability.
