Example

Account URI

The URI of the scenario.

Enter the URI of the scenario account.

sip:test@cordant.com

Attendee Account

The account of the user who is attending the conference. For the Dial-In Conference Scenario and the Audio Conference Scenario the Target User is referred to as the Attendee.

Calculated Scenario Weight

The Calculated Scenario Weight is a PowerSuite value, and is calculated based on the number of impacted users entered into the impacted users’ field, multiplied by a PowerSuite value provided for the specific scenario. Each scenario will provide a different Calculated Scenario Weight.

No action is needed. This value is automatically calculated by PowerSuite.

For 1000 impacted users for the Inbound PSTN scenario the calculated scenario weight is 6000.

For 1000 impacted users for P2P Audio Scenario the number of impacted users is 3000.

Domain

Domain of the scenario tests. This would typically be your organization’s domain.

Enter the domain.

Edge Server

Most Skype for Business deployments, deploy a single set of Edge Servers within a primary data center, with which all roaming end users access Skype for Business. However, some deployments deploy multiple sets of Edge Servers geographically dispersed, and focus on allowing users to access the Edge Servers based on their geographical location. To replicate Edge Server scenarios, Monitoring Solution’s flexibility for scenarios allows for the specification for which Edge server FQDN is to be used. It is expected that the relevant Edge Servers will be aligned with the Scenario Source locations, in either US, EMEA or APAC regions of PowerSuite.

Enter the edge server.

Edge Server Port

The Edge Server’s port.

Enter the edge server port. The standard port is 443.

Enabled

The scenario is enabled to be run on a schedule.

Check the check box to enable the scenario to run.

Impacted Users

The number of users that will be impacted if a scenario fails.

Enter the number of users that will be impacted. The maximum number of users that can be entered in this field is 1,000,000.

10,000

Include scenario into the service availability calculations

When a scenario fails the service availability will drop. If this checked box is not checked, then the scenario can fail with relevant incident alerts being sent, but the Service Availability value will not be affected by the scenario failures.

Check box to include failures in the Service Availability Value.

Organizer Account

The account of the Organizer of the conference. For the Dial-In Conference Scenario and the Audio Conference Scenario the Source User is referred to as the Organizer.

Organizer Account Password

Password for the Organizer Account.

Enter the password.

Attendee Account Password

Password for the Attendee Account.

Enter the password.

Priority

The priority associated with the scenario, and whether it is to be considered high, medium, or low priority in terms of action. Priority is based on the importance of the scenario failure, and how essential it is to solve the failing scenario. The failing scenario is called an incident. The priority that is set determines how PowerSuite sends out an alert for the incident.

Email alerts are sent when incidents occur if the scenario’s priority has been assigned as high or medium priority. Alerts are not sent for incidents that occur for scenarios that have been set as low priority.

Select the priority of the scenario.

High

Quarantined

When a scenario is in quarantine, it is in a validation state. The scenario is only moved out of quarantine when it can be ensured that false failures will not occur (the scenario is stable). While in Quarantine the failures (incidents) will not be displayed in the dashboards, and therefore will not affect your Service Availability. It is advisable to check the quarantined check box, when the scenario is first created.

While the scenario is being validated select the quarantined check box. When you are confident that the scenario is stable, deselect the quarantined check box. Deselecting will result in any failures displaying in the Service Availability.

Scenario Name

The name of the scenario, this should be an easily recognizable name.

Enter the scenario’s name.

SSEA-SKYPEPOOL02 : ussea-ux01/ussea-ux02 : Inbound PSTN : pmus01 : pmus02

Scenario Type

The type of scenario: Audio Conference, Audio Conference Dial-In, Inbound PSTN, Outbound PSTN, P2P Audio.

Select the scenario type.

Inbound PSTN

Scheduled interval

The scheduled interval is the frequency that the scenarios are run. Your selection will be based on how often you wish the scenario to be tested. The more the frequent intervals are scheduled, the earlier you will be notified that a failure has occurred, however, the more frequent the scenarios are run, the increase in cost owing to an increase in resources and calls made on PSTN.

Select the interval frequency from the list.

10 minutes

Source Account

To replicate end user behaviors, PowerSuite’s Monitoring Solution acts as an end user. Monitoring Solution not only performs the same action, but also has an identity that is considered to be the same as an end user. A Source Account initiates the relevant action (Example: making an Outbound PSTN call) and is required for all scenarios.

Target Account

The Target Account that is receiving the call is required for all scenarios except the Outbound scenario (which only requires a Source Account). These Target Accounts need to be homed on a Skype for Business pool as would be the case with real Skype for Business end users.

Target URI

The URI of the Target Account.

Enter URl.
